HOME STUDY NEEDS OF YOUR STUDENT:

EASY STEPS TO SUCCESS

Three things all parents can (and should do) for their child's success:

1. Provide a place for he/she to study/do school work...(i.e. desk, table, floor, etc)

2. Provide him/her the time to study/do homework...(i.e. don't overload your student with chores, babysitting siblings, limit jobs outside the home, etc)...school work has to be your child's top priority.

3. Monitor/check if his/her work is getting done...(i.e. work should be shown to parents, parents should check grades online (if possible), parents should contact the school/counselors/teachers...in addition to Parent/Teacher conferences if questions or concerns arise.

Research shows that when parents take an active role in their child's education it makes them better students. Limiting distractions such as cell phones, game systems, TV, and iPods will also improve each students efforts to complete work at home. Each student also needs 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night to feel ready for the next day. The NVMS teachers are dedicated to helping our students get better, good luck and have a great year.
